I agree with my boss, too, even when she’s wrong.

I’m an American, so yes I am privileged and yes that is poverty food in the United States.
Kids who grow up in homes with proper nutrition run faster, jump higher, and hit harder. Their bones have never been sapped of calcium, their teeth never threatened with scurvy. It’s not fair or safe to have them compete with malnourished kids who grew up eating fast food and tv dinners.
How old is your daughter?
That “relatively miniscule fraction” is over-represented in sports, as the hormonal edge cases of humanity can end up being stronger/faster/bigger than the typical humans.
Horseshit headline. There isn’t a genetic test that “reveals biological sex” because biological sex is not strictly genetic. That’s why they stopped doing genetic tests in the 1980s.
The headline should read “Competitors will participate in performative pseudoscience to appease bigots.”
Thank health insurance lawyers for that. Unintentionally terminating a pregnancy or causing a birth defect is prohibitively expensive for healthcare providers. If we could all agree not to sue for malpractice, doctors would be more free to use their own judgement. Of course, the more doctors you know, the less comforting that thought might be.
Everything you said is accurate, with one caveat: patients are often ignorant about the mechanics of pregnancy. Reproductive health education is shockingly insufficient among the population. “Could you be pregnant?” is not a useful question unless you’re sure that the patient understands how pregnancy works. Asking for the date of their last cycle is at the very least a data point that has some diagnostic value. “No, I can’t be pregnant because my boyfriend always pulls out” is a statement that contains a lot of information, but none of it has diagnostic value. You would still need to ask all the questions related to possible pregnancy.
That said, you’re right that the timing isn’t necessarily informative, either. And double down on asking these, or any, questions in private.
Terrorists. This is a picture of terrorists engaged in an active terror attack on the Capitol that had casualties.
Looks like a literal manifestation of the game of life.
You think anyone in Hamas wants to live alongside Israelis? The phrase is literally a call to reclaim all of the territory, and make sure there is no more Israel. It’s not necessarily a call for genocide, but it is used by people who are calling for genocide.
As always, the truth remains between the opposing talking points. Holy wars don’t leave much room for compromise or forgiveness, but that’s what is always required to achieve peace.
Probably confirms my preconceived expectations.
At least, that’s what we assume the report says.
Eh, it’s a me problem of oversharing, and I can appreciate that my perspective isn’t a universal perspective. How I’m perceived is as much my concern as my intention. I can’t control what other people feel, but I can appreciate their perspective and respect their feelings without taking it personally.
If someone feels like I’m mansplaining, I want to know about it and try not to do that again. That’s not an indictment of gender relations in modern society, that’s just courtesy.
As a man with adhd, I do this all the time to men and to women, and I’ve been accused of mansplaining. I’m working on it, but I promise it has nothing to do with sexism. I just think everybody needs to know all the details so rhey can reach the same conclusions as me.
And for what it’s worth, I really appreciate when someone does the same for me on a topic I don’t know about. But I understand how frustrating it is when someone does it on a subject I do know about, so I always try to gauge knowledge before info dumping. What catches me off guard is when someone isn’t interested in learning. They don’t know everything, and they are just OK with walking through life, knowing they don’t know something.
Point is, I really do appreciate the grace presented in the post. I don’t mind if you’re being condescending if you forgive me for oversharing.
IIRC there was a precedent that police aren’t expected to know the law, as long as they act “in good faith” under their best understanding of the law. This resulted in an almost immediate end to all attempts to provide legal training to police, because ignorance of the law is actually a defense, but only for cops.
You can’t always tell when an article isn’t about an incident in the USA, unless they feel the need to specify that the police were armed.
I was thinking of the committee that voted earlier.
I have to assume anyone trying to hide the list is on the list. So we have 7 Republicans who are assumed to be pedophile rapists.
The difference between telling a funny joke and being funny is whether you ask if they are koalified to make such distinctions.
My friend and I once met a koala holding a little plaquard saying “Bear X-ing” and an arrow pointing to herself. My friend said “She’s not a bear!” and I replied that he should look again at ursine.
