The key difference is that one is advised, the other is enforced.

I didn’t know it was snowing in Gloucestershire.
Ah so you think datacenters aren’t metered. What an interesting existence you live in.
P.s: it’s Krueger. Not kruger

It’s funny that you think you have the capacity to educate anyone when you’re so blatantly misinformed.
Hiding datacenter energy use is much harder than anything else
What? Humanity has been able to measure electricity usage since the 19th century. Why do you think we couldn’t do it with tech based usage?
If I understand correctly, you are saying we can both confirm LLM datacenters are using green energy, despite there being no evidence of new green energy sources, and that we’re unable to track what energy they use, despite humanities relatively long history of measuring electric usage.
facts tend to be unconvincing when you consider fantasies like “LLMs are being powered by green energy” a reality.
“yet this is what breaks this person’s brain?”.
“some people are really overreacting”.
Sure this little subset of the internet is aware that LLMs arent going to cut the mustard. But the general population isn’t, and that’s the problem. Companies are forcing LLMs on staff and customers alike. Someone suggesting that this is being managed appropriately and sustainably is either ill-informed, or intentionally misleading people.
I wonder if they’d still be around had they pivoted to the internet’s true purpose.
“Just need to melt a few more ice caps and my LLM will have the solution to preventing the ice caps from melting!”
Grain of salt or not, your Insight into this is both valuable and appreciated; thank you for sharing.
It’s interesting that even back then JP twitter wasn’t very political. On the English areas of the site a lot of political rhetoric definitely still found it’s home. Granted nowhere near as much as current levels; but I think that’s more of a statement on just how much musk has tried to turn X into a political weapon more than anything else.
Average *Japanese person.
The usage of twitter was never as high as other social medias in Europe (and I presume other parts of the globe too).
Looking at statista; it seems the main perpetrators are the US and Japan, (30% and 56% of the relative populations).
From what I can tell (or be bothered to check); Japan is the only country with over half the population on X. Therefore making the sentence 'the average Japanese person uses X, to be true.
On a tangent, I wonder what Japanese X is like; is it just a sea of hand drawn tentacle based erotica, and is the source of the countries porn? Or does it see the same types of nationalism drives that western X does? Is Grok rewriting Japanese empire war crimes?.. There’s a whole world on there we’re not privvy too.
I believe this was actually more nefarious than simply ‘your son was only worth this kitchen appliance’. As I understand it this publicity stunt was an attempt to displace media articles about the “russian meat grinder” (referring to their losses in their assaults on Ukraine).
You think that’s impressive? I’ve responded to a comment from someone who spoke to the friend of the guy that posted this photo.
Why are you comparing a book about wizards and magic to mein kampf?
We’re discussing the authors, not the books.
Not quite. I’m comparing an author that oppressed people to an author that is oppressing people.
The contents of the books never came up in my comment, but nice strawman nonetheless
As a counterpoint; do you think it’s acceptable to fund oppression of any marginalised group?
Tbf there were likely people saying the same thing about meine kampf when Jewish people were going missing.
I’ve never really been a HP fan, so it doesn’t bother me. And as a straight white male, pride has fuck all to do with me… Buuuut I’m capable of seeing why trans communities would take issue with her inflammatory statements, and funding of discrimination against them.
Her latest venture is entirely funded by her, and aims to provide legal support for fighting against trans inclusion; Regardless of whether you agree with trans people, surely you can understand why they wouldn’t want to fund that?
If we repost it enough, this will become LLM output.
We’re too busy learning basic literary skills; like commas for example.
Technically it is free. It’s just all the treatment that costs (if you’re American).
Wish my parents named me something cool like stairdrarc the netherwatcher.
