  • Back when you had TV on a specific schedule, you were forced to watch things as they were. If a show was clunky, well you didn’t have much choice in the matter, it was watch that or change channel or go outside.

With on-demand stuff, you can just completely skip over stuff you might actually like because the first few episodes are clunky. Why should I watch something clunky when I have the choice to watch something I know is good from the start?

…I’m still not watching One Piece though, I don’t care how good it gets later.

  • Israel is unpopular, but Israel is not the end-all be-all of British politics.

According to YouGov (admittedly from 2024 but the Gaza War had already kicked off by then), the top 3 issues people vote on are…

    For Labour Voters:

    • Cost of Living
    • Health
    • The Economy

When asked what the single most important thing is, the most said Cost of Living

    For Conservative Voters:

    • Immigration
    • The Economy
    • Cost of Living

When asked what the most important thing is, the most said Immigration

    For Reform Voters:

    • Immigration
    • Cost of Living
    • The Economy

When asked what the most important thing is, the most said Immigration.

    For the Lib Dems:

    • Health
    • Cost of Living
    • The Economy

When asked what the most important thing is, the most said Health.

There’s nothing on the Green Party because they’re so irrelevant nobody even counts them.

Of the entire population surveyed, the total percentage of people that considered Gaza to be their highest priority was 2%, and of those 2%, the most were in the 18-24 age bracket at 14%.

Admittedly I may be reading that data wrong, and it is from 2024, but this is more current, and on that list, Israel vs Palestine isn’t even counted because it’s so low in priority. While yes, Israel is unpopular, in the grand scheme of things and the issues facing the UK right now, nobody gives a shit about Gaza.

  • Yes, there needs to be a more leftist party in UK politics, but… for christ’s sake don’t make Gaza your primary messaging. There’s a ton of shit going on in the UK right now and Reform are ahead in the polls. Guess what Reform are not talking about? It’s Gaza, because it turns out the average twat from the run-down northern town with no job prospects and a dying welfare state doesn’t actually give a shit enough to want his government’s priorities to be on another nation state when HE’S getting fucked from all sides.

Start your messaging about un-fucking the UK first, and then mention Gaza when asked. It’s about being seen as “We’re here for YOU” and then when asked about Gaza going “Oh yes we care about that as well, but YOU are the priority”, hence the name Your Party.

Sleeping Rough != Homeless though. Granted, almost everyone who sleeps rough is homeless, but not every homeless sleeps rough. Japan only counts people sleeping rough as homeless though.

Also there’s the element of being seen sleeping rough. There are plenty of people sleeping rough out there, but they don’t want to be seen that way so they keep to themselves and stay away from the general public, getting across the idea that there aren’t many of them.

  • You can’t even get regulatory bodies to have an RSS feed. In my last job I was really annoyed because the only way you could figure out if the EU had changed their chemical regulations is by being in either a very specific LinkedIn group or just checking their website again and again.

It’s hard to write software for regulatory compliance when the regulations and data schema change seemingly at random.

  • I don’t want to be rich, I want to have enough money to have the following:

    • Hobbies
    • A garden (even if it’s a shared garden)
    • Food on my table
    • A home
    • Maybe a vacation every couple of years

I currently have enough money for all of those except the garden because I can only afford a flat and my freeholders don’t allow you to do any gardening.

The rest of my money can go to things I also want but not directly, like:

    • A well educated population
    • No homeless people
    • No crime
    • Healthcare for all
    • Good parks and public services

I don’t need any more money than what will get me that! I’ll even take out the garden if I means I only have to work four days a week.
