Great novel, “Stand On Zanzibar.” John Brunner. Written in 1969 and set in the early 21st Century.
Half the book is basic third person narration, but the rest is a mix of commercials, product reviews, legal papers, opinion pieces, TV transcripts, etc etc.
This is what’s amazing to me.
He went on the Howard Stern show and boasted about barging into the dressing rooms of the Miss Teen USA pageant, talked about how hot his teenage daughter was, and pushed his way into a softcore Playboy video and none of his voters thought there might be a problem.
