  • The ending is what really got me.

They all just sat down and kept trying to live life the way they always had, like going back and making everything the way it was just for a little while was all they could do in the face of obliteration.

I don’t know about anyone else, but the way that scene is drawn out, as the viewer, I was just expecting some deus ex machina shit to happen, like a volcano would divert the shockwave, or they would survive under the rubble, or the whole thing was a fever dream… And they all just get obliterated by the disaster they all knew was coming and no longer preventable. It’s how I feel living in a house with AC, and having two cars in the driveway. I’m contributing to the climate crisis, but as an individual, I have zero impact in what is happening. The people with the power to cut back and actually make an impact on the climate won’t, because they only have that power though greed above everything else.

Anyway, sorry if you’re depressed after reading it. When we hit +1.5C, all the cool people can come over to my house for a nice dinner before the food supply collapses and the famine sets in.

In their defense, the house was built 50 years ago. Ripping up the drive and disposing of the concrete releases more CO2, SUVs are practically the only vehicles offered on the market anymore (and you got tired of almost getting killed by dodge-ram drivers while driving your tiny hybrid hatchback), hah, you think we get vacations, and when the stuff you need only comes in a disposable form, what choice do you really have?

  • Also, don’t forget that a major part of the tariff declarations are pushed by his billionaire handlers and his family, to crash markets and buy in a fire sale. It’s the most blatant and highest scale insider trading scheme ever.

Pretty sure this is why he is fucking over federal aid for disasters. Hurricane wipes out a bunch of “poor” houses on the south-east seaboard, his billionaire buddies buy up the properties for pennies on the dollar, and then Trump is going to re-instate disaster aid to help clean up affected areas while taking about how the coast used to look so beautiful, and it’s Biden’s fault that all those people got forced out of their homes. Wealth transfer complete, and we even pick up the bill for rebuilding all the infrastructure on for the billionaires.

Two things you should look into…

    Paradox of Tolerance.

    Social contract.

The people not just advocating for, but actively trying to be personally in charge of putting huge portions of the population into death camps are not worthy of tolerance. We cannot allow them to exist unchallenged. Life has been too easy for them, and we have been too abiding of their views and hateful rhetoric, which has empowered and emboldened them into this state of being. They will cry for your tolerance, but not give second thought to callously harming millions of people just for clout. You gotta draw a line somewhere.

That, and alligators don’t really see people as food, unless you are a small child playing near the edge of the water at dusk. They can be defensive of their personal space and breeding territory, but they’d much rather be 10ft away from you than attacking you.

Source: Spent a week kayaking in a burning swamp absolutely filled with alligators. They just want to sit in the sun and be left the fuck alone.
